am asking for a friend whose job in on the line - she needs quickly assessing for dyspraxia, it is interferring with her ability to do her job, i have known from meeting her that she clearly has dyspraxia, and her GP is not being terribly helpful.
my son is dyspraxic and has aspergers and was seen by occupational therapy and clinical psycologist - yet my friends gp was most unhelpful and seems to be at a loss who to refer her to see, and has referred her privately to a neurologist who is going to cost a small fortune and the appointment is only 30 mins -
i thought occupational therapy would be better able to dx dyspraxia?
or a clinical psyce?

yes yes yes she needs an OT. neurologist will do fuck all! if i were her I'd cancel that appointment if it's going to cost her.

lol at what did she drop....its more like what did she drop, lose, misplace, hit, bump into, fall over, spill, lose again,not to mention the social faux pas.......bless her.
its quite imperative she get a dx despite the fact that she has been in denial - until she has realised her job is on the line - its suddenly got all serious. if she were to be diagnosed there is a hope that "reasonable adjustments" could be made...im praying anyway as id hate to encourage her along with our employers to get dx'd only for her to lose her job anyway...
she is quite odd but i feel terribly protective of her and i actually do like her, despite being seen as odd by association! im past caring - i live with my son who is a dyspraxic dyslexic aspie!
i swear im in the wrong job...i can spot peeps with dyspraxia or aspergers at 20 paces...
she went today, she is dyspraxic. she is now being referred for more in depth assessments, but she is ok with it and it means the job cant get rid just because she struggles with certain things.
im relieved for her. and more importantly i think she feels vindicated and it explains a lot for her throughout her life. she is now putting two and two together and working out who else has it in her family.
