Does anyone's child receive IHgher rate Care and low rate mobility?

I've just been told that the DLA have awarded this to DS1. The DLA lady told me over the phone.

I'm currently a LP with two children on income support, and receive tax credits and child benefit, and that's my income.

Does anyone know if this will affect the income I have? I've obviously told tax credits and I'll tell the jobcentre when the award notice comes through, as they always want to see paper, but I'm a bit worried for the future, and I know that benefits can be a bit "give to the right hand and take from the left"

BUMP?

If you get higher rate care you get an extra top-up on your tax credits. (A smaller top-up is given for middle-rate care).

I don't know about income support though.

(Mine both have lower rate mobility and higher rate care)

It says here that IS might also increase.

So basically it looks as though you'll gain money rather than lose anything.

thanks Coppertop, that liknk is really useful

I do panic about money, even if I have enough, because I got severely stung with the tax credits once and we were in poverty for MONTHS.

You can run the figures through this and it will tell you what your tax credits should go up to as you can put in what level of DLA your DC is entitled to.

don't forget that with HRC you will be entitled to carer's allowance, too. It will be taken into account as earned income, but you will also get a premium on your IS/HB claims, so you will be better off overall than if you didn't claim it. Carer's Allowance is £55 per week right now.
