I am a secondary school teacher who has been at home for years as SAHM. I now want to return to work and am considering retraining to work with blind people. Either working with people who have as an adult become blind through accident or illness, or possibly in a school for blind people.

Does anyone have any experience of this, and any tips in terms of useful experience, difficulties, I don't know, anything. I kind of feel I am choosing a very narrow field. OTOH, it's the only thing I can honestly say I actively want to do.

I also wondered about working in a special school, but am concerned how dramatically stressful it might be.

I have to arrange to do one 4 week work experience placement and am not sure what to do for the best...
