21.2.14 - Goose and Carrot - Rum and hot chocolate specials

(264 Posts)
hazeyjane Fri 21-Feb-14 18:16:35

Have felt chilled to the bone and out of sorts all day, hence the rum and hot chocolate (purely medicinal)

Highlight of my day was ds having his first ever proper haircut! Our lovely hairdresser was over cutting the dds hair and he climbed up on his chair and made his sign for 'chop' - fortunately she is very quick!

PolterGoose Fri 21-Feb-14 18:19:56

Well done ds grin

SummerRain Fri 21-Feb-14 18:22:31

Congrats... If only I could convince ds2 to get a haircut too, his hair is getting quite floppy again

hazeyjane Fri 21-Feb-14 18:26:41

Ah floppy suits him though!

I actually quite like ds's shaggy hair, but it just gets a bit out of control, and with the hair twiddling has bald patches, so it is a bit 'mad professor'.

That is a sit down bath and and a haircut this week - if he was older I would think he was trying to impress a lady!

SummerRain Fri 21-Feb-14 18:34:54

Ds2 won't let me wash it so it's floppy and grungy... He could audition for a metal band based on his hair alone grin

A bath and a haircut is seriously good going... Has he got his eye on one of the girls at playgroup maybe? wink

youarewinning Fri 21-Feb-14 18:35:38

He is trying to impress a lady Hazey You! I'm sure it still counts if it's your mum! Or sisters!.........

Or a dozen lady strangers in MNSN grin

Draughts Fri 21-Feb-14 18:37:30

Hello smile, thought I might pop along here today of that's okay. Took DS2 & his friend from school to the cinema & McD's today. Was challenging but so worth it. He spent an hour having loads of assessments at cahms first thing so was ready for some fun. Him and his friend both go to a Speech & Language school and it was so lovely to see DS with a school friend, even if it was hard work. They were so pleased to see each other and delighted with the Lego movie, though I am being tortured with DS singing the bloody song now wink. Just lured my first wine of the week.

hazeyjane Fri 21-Feb-14 18:38:05

He knows that I wouldn't care if he had shaggy jam crusted hair and reeked.

He only has eyes for his 1-1 at preschool. He absolutely LOVES her.

He'll start on the Lynx soon.

Draughts Fri 21-Feb-14 18:38:21

Bloody hell, sorry for the typos!

hazeyjane Fri 21-Feb-14 18:42:08

Hello Draughts smile

Draughts Fri 21-Feb-14 18:49:18

Hi Hazey, I used to post on here quite a lot, did you ever get a definitive diagnosis for your lovely boy? I was slightlycrumpled & my DS has a chromosome deletion (22q).

Big well done on your sons haircut smile.

Jacksterbear Fri 21-Feb-14 18:54:42

Wow, Friday and new thread time already?! Have got through the week relatively unscathed despite dh being away for work. Ds has had a bad day today but not too bad rest of week.

Massive glasses of wine all round!

Welcome back Draughts, I'm a newbie here!

hazeyjane Fri 21-Feb-14 18:55:15

<slaps head in recognition> I knew I knew you, but wasn't sure who you were!

Ds is now in the DDD study, but is still treated as having a 'likely diagnoss' of Kleefstra Syndrome, as he ticks all the boxes as genetic markers go, and is part of a study into the diagnostic criteria for the syndrome.

How is your ds doing? I'm so glad to hear it is going well at the speech unit, your post on another thread about switching him from ms to a speech unit, was very heartening.

PolterGoose Fri 21-Feb-14 19:06:43

Summer he is very cute, hair and all grin

Draughts I don't know you but it's lovely to get new visitors to the G&C wine and glad your ds had a good day smile

Jackster one bad day in a week counts as a success in this house wink

Thought I would pop in and say hi. Feeling sad today. I know dd's application is going to panel next week and I haven't a clue what will happen. dd has announced she is not going back to school next week. Not sure what to do on Monday but Im dreading the week ahead sad

SallyBear Fri 21-Feb-14 19:33:35

zzzzz hope you get some restful sleep tonight

NoHaudinMaWheest Fri 21-Feb-14 19:44:55

Hazey great haircut.

Summer lovely looking boy. Ds eventually decided himself that his hair needed cut - not until he was 14 though.

Welcome (back) draughts.

zzzzz have a snooze in the corner.

Draughts Fri 21-Feb-14 20:13:45

Lovely welcome smile.
Hazey he's doing okay(ish), there's always an ish isn't there. He had done bone anchored hearing aids fitted in to his skull at the end of last year which have been life changing in a positive way. He's suddenly made progress in reading, which is just lovely as we were told he would never learn to read.

Unfortunately he's had some worrying symptoms & is now on the waiting list for an ear / brain MRI. Fingers crossed it's something small & easily fixed!

zzzz I'm rubbish with names too, here and in RL!

Draughts Fri 21-Feb-14 20:14:59

Sunshine that sounds really tough, hope the panel hearing goes your way.

PolterGoose Fri 21-Feb-14 20:16:54

Draughts that's lovely about the reading smile and good luck with the MRI flowers
