Let me open up!

ouryve Fri 06-Dec-13 20:01:23

I still have loads of last year's backbreakingcurrant jam!

Will definitely be having something fortifying once the boys are in bed. Had a freezing cold but vaguely pleasurable morning at the Christmas market, this morning - just the food bit, rather than the tat tent. The food's all in the Cathedral Cloisters, though and was well refrigerated. Treated myself to some lovely Ousburn coffee (and to the voice of the guy who roasts it - utterly delicious!) and assorted bread and cheese and a nice big piece of locally produced ham that should see the boys through a couple of days of Christmas.

After missing my bus by seconds, managed to complete the freezing my ass off routine killing half an hour before the next one. Got home to a call from school to say that DS2 had fallen over his own feet, on the yard, and gashed his head and bloody was going everywhere and he wouldn't let anyone put a steristrip on.

Went to pick up the boys, later on, to hear various kids relating the gory details to their parents! DS2 wasn't wearing his glasses. he was a bit wary and it turned out that no one had noticed that he'd bent the nose pieces. I had DS1 ranting at me because he wouldn't wear them and on the verge of refusing to walk home again. He also won't let us talk about it. He's insisting that DS2 had no accident, he didn't need first aid and we were just making it all up.

Thanks to the lollipop lady saying the she knew where she'd seen a coin lying around, we did get home, in reasonable time, but DS2 was really stimmy and wouldn't leave the fridge and freezer alone. Every time I spoke to him, DS1 was bloody sticking his own oar in. I ended up standing against the kitchen door, on the verge of tears, until DH got home!

Home-made booze, yum. We are making sloe gin and blackberry brandy from fruit from the ILs garden. So wholesome and yet so delicious!

Good day on the whole (occasional day so no school yay), a biting incident aside (bit shocked as ds is not normally a biter but lashed out at a friend's 3yo ds who was winding him up blush).

Get well soon moose, Summer and any other poorly folk. thanks

Oooh I'm all for the rum! Hi everyone - v impressed w the crafty types making jam and wine...Ive been wondering if I can pull it together enough to bake some small Christmas goodies to give out - we have so many people to be thankful for this year. Jury still out on that one. It's been a huge time of change just now - we spent at least 6 hours this week at appts - need to start school decisions. At least everyone is clear that dd better off in a ss.
Then I've applied for a job - had me in a big tizzy - but better now.
Your dd looks well Galina glad shes getting better. Wishing everyone easy times with bath and bed and the great flop onto sofa that comes after.

calmer now

Bless dp, he's brought me neurofen plus so I'm feeling slightly more human now. I chanced a look down my throat though and there's an ulcer on one of my tonsils [ick]

Ouryve [hugs] and wine Sounds like one of those days where all you can do is get them to bed and self medicate to forget. Hope he's ok after his bump, head wounds always bleed like fuck so I bet the other boys got a good show wink

Trigglesx Fri 06-Dec-13 20:20:40

ouryve so sorry you've had such a stressful day. Hope you can relax a little this evening now.

ouryve Fri 06-Dec-13 20:32:37

I'm about to go and pour myself a glass. When I've taken DS2's coat out of the dryer. It looked like he'd butchered an animal carcase in it!

hazeyjane Fri 06-Dec-13 20:35:05

Ouch Ouryve, to the head and the day. flowers

FistTimer, if you can get your hands on a bottle of Kraken, it is deeeelicious.

My FiL is staying for the night, dh has taken him to the carol concert at the chapel of the school he works for, it is a breathtakingly lovely thing, and dh has never managed to go, so I'm really glad he is able to take his dad.

hazeyjane Fri 06-Dec-13 20:36:01

blush apologies to FirstTimer for calling you FistTimer

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Fri 06-Dec-13 20:36:17

the kids all seem to be hyped this evening, none of them are in bed yet [yawn] and I'm getting really bored of the hospital conformation service fhmm calling and disturbing my evening

moosemama Fri 06-Dec-13 20:37:25

wine ouryve.

Galena - Wow! grin

I'm crawling off to bed now folks. Hopefully the Nightnurse will do it's thing and I won't hear a thing till morning.

Night all.

ouryve Fri 06-Dec-13 20:37:55

I'll have to try the kraken. I got a bottle of the Sainsburys Taste the Difference Golden rum for the Christmas puds and it's lovely neat. Not at all harsh. And, unlike the branded stuff, doesn't give me a bad 'eed.

PolterGoose Fri 06-Dec-13 21:01:33

Sleep well moose

Double wine for ouryve

Good luck with the job First flowers

SummerRain Fri 06-Dec-13 21:02:56

Night moose flowers I'm planning on slumping on the couch as I'm so achey I wont sleep anyway.

Ouryve, wet it with cold water and pour loads of salt on the blood stains, works wonders. I have far too much experience removing blood stains hmm

autumnsmum Fri 06-Dec-13 21:10:31

Sorry to hear about all the illnesses dps birthday and he managed a walk to the park which for an agoraphobic is amazing .i want some kraken rim badly

autumnsmum Fri 06-Dec-13 21:11:57

Kraken rim sounds appallingly dubious!!!i meant kraken rum

hazeyjane Fri 06-Dec-13 21:15:34

What with Kraken rim and Fist Timer, I'm starting to wonder what sort of place this Goose and Carrot is!

ouryve Fri 06-Dec-13 21:37:50

Summer - Ecover delicates did the job just fine! It's a proper waterproof coat (Landsend sale bargain), so I can't use bio detergent on it, so I was a bit worried, but it seems the waterproofing worked in its favour and didn't let the blood soak in.

Ilisten2thesoundofdrums Fri 06-Dec-13 22:23:27

Evening everyone. It's Ds birthday today. How did I get to be the mum of a now teenager? Ds had a couple of friends over this afternoon and they were playing karaoke on the Wii u. Very eclectic music tastes. We don't have any microphones so they were so go g using the remotes as props.
Dd has laryngitis, a raging temp and has spent the day on the sofa. She never does that so i know she is really feeling rough. I just hope a good night's sleep works as we are going to the London Dungeons with several of Ds friend tomorrow and I need her well enough to come out with us all .
I hope everyone else who is I'll feels better soon.

ouryve Fri 06-Dec-13 22:37:33

Happy birthday to your DS and hope your DD feels better in the morning.

Firsttimer7259 Sat 07-Dec-13 06:52:43

Thread got me thinking about xmas gifts - wanted to make something small esp for people involved in dd care. Problem is it feels like hard work so I'm wondering about making cinder toffee (maybe some whisky added) in pretty gift bags. It'd be easy and inexpensive - also saw idea for homemade cards using a handprint to make Rudolph reindeer cards. That's about the level of craft dd can manage. Otherwise we could break out the glitter again. Thing is does it sound a bit pathetic? I would like to do something but the thought it more difficult baking makes my heart sink. Is it cheap of me? Well yes it is e cheap but is bad cheap or cheap but sweet?

youarewinning Sat 07-Dec-13 07:21:53

galena wow grin

Sorry to those feeling shit or dealing with shit.

I didn't make it here yesterday as slept most of evening and all night. Roll on Thursday when I have the last planned surgical intervention on my teeth and jaw. I'm hoping being in less pain will leave he less exhausted.

youarewinning Sat 07-Dec-13 07:24:10

First timer- I did gifts like that using chocolate from the tins when on offer. They were 2 tins for £6. Put in coloured cellophane, tie with ribbon and added a label DS had decorated? People really liked them.

SallyBear Sat 07-Dec-13 07:55:08

My poor DS4. He's been awake since about 2am. Looks exhausted and very wired. He's supposed to be out for four hours with his carer today. I will have to cancel her and hope that he will have a nap today. hmm
