Ok, after much scouting for suitable resonably priced London venues (thank you once again Messmonster for your tireless research, we have secured a venue near Liverpool Street for Saturday, February 23rd, 2013.

Email me on gweithred@talktalk.net and I will send you the full details.

I need at least 15 delegates to make this financially viable for me.
At least 25 people had indicated a stornig interest in attending an event in London when Messmonster posted up an online survey.

Looking forward to hearing from you all smile

messmonster Mon 28-Jan-13 22:20:39

Must be psychic - just logged into MN SN and saw this - have emailed you. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us smile.

zumbaleena Mon 28-Jan-13 22:41:41

Interested

Handywoman Tue 29-Jan-13 09:14:53

Am so gutted to miss out on this (I have to work that day). Always massively interested in input from a good speech&lang therapist and was really looking forward to meeting fellow MNSNers.

<sadface>

Hi sorry I don't know much as am quite new to all you guys but moondog, what ground are you going to be covering in this meeting? I could well be very interested in joining you if that's okay xx

silverfrog Tue 29-Jan-13 13:37:34

Sadly, as I suspected, this is not going to be possible for me.

ds is still glued to me constantly, feeds every couple of hours. there is no way i could leave him for even half a day, let alone a full one.

I hope you get the right numbers, and that all involved have a successful day smile

moondog Tue 29-Jan-13 20:03:52

Toni, you would be most welcome.
Are oyu one of the people who has already emailed me.
If not, please do. smile

We held a similar event for MNers last year in Birmingham. Amongst the attendees were Messmonster, Tryingtokeepintune and Starlight.

If anyone would like to come but unsure as to whether I am really a random axe murderer, then I am sure these people can allay your fears, either on or off MN.

grin

corkysgran Tue 29-Jan-13 23:37:44

Yes.
Email me and I shall send you all the details.
Email is in my first post. smile

hazeyjane Sat 02-Feb-13 19:26:10

Moondog I have emailed you for information, I don't really know what the day entails, but am keen to start being a bit more proactive about the SALT side of ds's care, but don't know if it is the sort of thing that could help.

Thanks.

MareeyaDolores Sat 02-Feb-13 22:16:11

Silverfrog, could you pretend it's a la leche league meeting and just simultaneously feed and learn?

moondog Sun 03-Feb-13 09:22:26

grin

Will email tomorrow (can't from phone). Dh is being obstructive but I'm trying to get something sorted so I can come.....

silverfrog Sun 03-Feb-13 22:17:54

Mareeya - sadly not. ds is a loud and bolshy 6 months old. in between constant feeding he commando rolls about the place, and shouts loudly for dd2 to come and entertain him grin

moondog Mon 04-Feb-13 16:44:39

Could you please include the colour coding of motivation levels (mentioned in another thread)in the course if it is not already there?

Awomansworth Tue 05-Feb-13 08:01:22

Just as an aside, I think it's great that you are doing this.

I'm in Notts... so although I would love to come, sadly it won't be doable for me. Are you going to do any literature packs from the day at all.

moondog Tue 05-Feb-13 18:03:35

Awoman, MNers asked me to do it and as I am always keen for us to pool resources and share best practice I put it together. smile

I don't think handouts mean much without a face to face discussion but I am sure one of the attendees will be happy to share them with you.

moondog Tue 05-Feb-13 18:03:59

And yes, Star, that will be covered in detail.

moondog Wed 06-Feb-13 16:21:55

Will you be doing any in the North?

moondog Wed 06-Feb-13 16:28:28

I did one in Birmingham last spring and will do one anywhere-as long as there is sufficient demand! smile

coff33pot Wed 06-Feb-13 19:40:29

SOME of you please move to bloody Cornwall!!! grin

I hope all goes well Moondog smile

moondog Wed 06-Feb-13 22:21:19

Thanks Coff!

Awomansworth Wed 06-Feb-13 22:59:11

You are indeed right about the face to face thing...

Having been on lots of various courses/training etc run by LA, which frankly I could have run better myself, I was presuming that handouts from a course run by someone who actually knows what they are talking about would be better than nothing.

moondog Thu 07-Feb-13 16:54:47

Oh dear!
Sounds like a lot of the courses I have been on.
My pet hate is courses to 'raise awareness'
I fight the urge to stand up and bellow 'We're all bloody aware thanks. Now we want some concrete action!'

It's impossible to 'raise awareness' without generalising I have experienced.

These courses are all full of 'they like this, they do this, they can't do this, they hate this..........'

pisses me off......

Aargh. Properly gutted now sad. DH off to the other side of the country for some unnecessary hobby-related event angry and no-one else to leave dc with.

MerryCouthyMows Sun 10-Feb-13 01:18:36

Interested. Will try to figure out childcare, think DS2 & DS3 can go to their dad's as it's a fortnight away. Maybe I can find someone to have DD & DS1...

<<Crosses fingers>>

MerryCouthyMows Sun 10-Feb-13 01:19:25

Will email in the morning.

I've just realised today that I haven't yet sent my form and cheque back to Moondog for the 23rd blush blush. I WILL do it tomorrow.

Made me wonder, I've not seen many confirmations on here, who else has signed up/is going to?

moondog Tue 12-Feb-13 17:13:20

messmonster Tue 12-Feb-13 21:43:57

Looks like I'm going to have Moondog and her colleague all to myself then confused smile

Anyone else? Anyone....?

I'm just trying to figure out how many from my party. At least one but trying to get childcare is tricky for my DH to accompany.

Although, someone on another thread said they were scared of meeting me confused and so didn't want to confirm here in case I put them off.

moondog Tue 12-Feb-13 21:54:28

Can I reassure you all that Starlight is a very lovely person?
grin

messmonster Tue 12-Feb-13 22:56:38

Ooh good smile

Can I also say that I met Star at the last event in Birmingham and she's not at all scary grin

Bluebirdonmyshoulder Tue 12-Feb-13 23:30:29

I'll be there! Have paid and everyfink!

blush Dunno about lovely, but I'm definitely DEFINATELY NOT scary.

messmonster Wed 13-Feb-13 11:48:39

Yay! So glad you're coming Bluebird. Hope Bluechick is doing well after your hospital stay.

Moondog my cheque's in the post! No, really it is smile

moondog Wed 13-Feb-13 19:10:34

Oh aye? wink
Thanks for bumping ladies.
I've had a flurry of activity and enquiry on email today so would remind anyone else interested to let me know asap. smile

The sooner I know in advance the better I can plan for you all.

messmonster Thu 14-Feb-13 11:44:41

Just another gentle bumpity bump for anyone who still needs to get their form back and for anyone else thinking about it smile

Just over a week to go... grin

Bluebirdonmyshoulder Fri 15-Feb-13 17:20:48

Just wanted to bump to say I'm really looking forward to this, both the course itself and meeting some of you in real life.

moondog Sat 16-Feb-13 19:35:24

Just to give everyone an update on this, we now have 10 people who are definitely attending.
Four are veterans of last year's day and six are newbies.
This will be taking place next Saturday (23/2/13) near Liverpool Street in London.

Purpose of the training is to show you how you can use and learn basic principles of both ABA and speech and language therapy to use together to ensure measurable progress in children with communication and/or behavioural issues.

We have enough room for more attendees so you can still sign up by contacting me on gweithred@talktalk.net for full details.

smile
