I think i have asked this before but i thought i would try again grin.

Dd2 is starting main stream next month so i was going to try and put together a PECS folder/book for her to use at nursery, she already has a simple one at her SN playgroup which uses photo's as well as a few symbols. I wanted symbols for food, activities, toilet/potty, feelings, body parts, weather, clothing and places (home, school etc..).
I managed to find some here but some of them are a bit too USA (pants not trousers etc..). I wanted simple symbols (not photo's) like the ones she uses at play-group like these. Is there anywhere where i can print them off for free? grin.

I can't believe how much some sites are charging to download the symbols, it makes me sick that people are trying to make money out of SN parents.

www.do2learn.com has plenty of free ones to download.

alternatively you can google for a free trial of Mayer-Johnson boardmaker, that will have thousands!

TotalChaos, some of those dotolearn ones are very puzzling. The clock is pointing to 3 o'clock, so I'd have guessed that the person wanted me to do something at 3 o'clock. And I'm not at all sure what some of them are drawings of. I also can't tell which emotion is which for most of the emotions ones. But most are very good.

try mrsriley.com for free trial and can sign up fairly cheaply to make your own.
But also ask your library to get Boardmaker.
Leeds Library just got an award for doing this and I have got my local library to agree to get it too. I just emailed these links to my library and MP and asked them to do something similar and hey presto we should have it in a few months time (wonderful what an MP's involvement can do!)
If the links don't work just google "Leeds library+Boardmaker"
I'm on a mission to get it in every library now.

Have you got Facebook?

Here is a great link, I have just printed loads off! You have to log in to be able to use them though, but worth making an account if you haven't already, just for those.

If you cant get onto it let me know, I have saved them onto PC so can email them over to you.

Hi,

I found a charity ware application written to create PECS cards at

http://www.lonesheep.com.

Apparently it is written by a chap with an autistic son. Windows only though - but is seems to be in continious development - and he welcomes suggestions on ways to change it!

www.clipartguide.com i found this good, printed them out and glued them to some cardboard
