Sensory issues/highly sensitive child - difference?

Hi

I posted below about my son's shoe meltdown!

I've been looking around on the net about sensory issues etc and I think, if anything, my son has stand alone issues with this rather than any other diagnoisis.

I found quite alot of stuff about the 'highly sensitive' child which seems to match him to a tee.

It seems to me though that this is part of a person's innate personality rather than a 'condition'.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it something that even needs addressing? Am I just wasting everyone's time? Will the GP just think I'm mad?

don't have any knowledge, sorry, just my ds1 was highly sensitive to labels and clothing but especially shoes.
a jumper would go on then come off 2 seconds later,we went on holiday once and he would not wear any shoes at all. we went to woolies to try new ones only to have habdabs in shoe aisle.
later,he was obsessed with cool trainers and would be very very stroppy going to get them ,then when they were new would try to keep them spotless!!
Even now the washing machine emits weird noises which turns out to be trainers in mid wash!!
he also wore trainers loose and untied as much as possible
