So what else can happen this week.......?

.....bearing in mind it is Sunday so in my book that means only 5 and a half hours until next week So I'm thinking nothing, right?

DH was made redundant last month and has been looking for work. On Monday he decided to take a 6 month contract job BASED IN GERMANY oh and guess what they needed him to start Wednesday! So we put him on the plane Wednesday leaving me on my own with the 2 DC's and my Mum (who is virtually housebound)to look after, and since then DS (age 9 with AS and demand avoidance) has been loopy as hell!

All week I've been hearing weird popping noises in the lounge so last night I investigated and thought it was a gas leak. Waited an hour for the man to come. Couldn't find a leak but he heard the pop sound and saw the flames and said 'no love it's your electrics'. So have had to turn the electics off - fortunately we have 2 cottages knocked into one and the services are seperate in both houses so we have at least a live-able bit! Phoned DH who was less than interested!!

Oh no, thought I, what about the fridge and freezer? Let's use the spare fridgefeezer in the house where the electric is on but I will need to defrost it. As it was now about 10 pm I tried to do it quickly with a hammer and a screwdriver. (I know it was stupid I was under pressure - DS was convinced the house was about to catch fire because the gas man had said it might happen, and was dancing up and down the stairs in full panic mode). So guess what? Made a big hole in the freezer pipe and out comes all the gas. Phoned DH who LAUGHED and then told me where the really long extension was so I could run a cable to the freezer - not that he could have told me earlier when we were on the phone or anything.

Kids now so scared of fire (DS had convinced DD it was imminent) and the fact there were no lights in their rooms that neither of them would go ionto their own beds so got in my bed with me. DD straight to sleep DS awake and talking until about 2 as he couldn't switch off!

Spent today running cables, getting lamps into place and sorting out the tv so DS can calm down. No fridge just a beer cooler for the milk but hey ho! DS has been high as a kite and shooting DD with (toy) arrows all day and shouting at her and refusing to do ANYTHING at all. Had to carry him through Homebase carpark as he refused to get into the car (he hates shopping and I had to take him there to get another extension cable as no DH to look after him). Also had to shop for Mum but left kids there with her Sky tv to keep them calm.

So nothing else can go wrong?? Can it?? I mean I only have to wait until Tuesday to get an electrician to help because don't really want to pay bank holiday prices.

OMG OMG OMG aaaargh!!

Phew feel better now all that's off my chest! I know there is nothing anyone can do just needed a big moan and rant so thanks for being there!!

And don't get me started about DS now refusing to wipe his bum properly so I have to check every time or we end up with HUGE skid marks on his bed clothes or the floor!!

Surely after that lot you're due some really good luck? When everything's fixed, go and get yourself a lottery ticket - and refuse to share it with dh if you win.

Sorry to hear about dd's seizure, Riven.

Riven! Absolutely not in any way, not never ever. Your post was lovely and supportive - I NEEDED that hug!!

I know lots of people have said to ignore this ignorant and offensive poster. And I think you should too, just completely blank it out of your mind lovey. The only thing that offended me was them assuming that I was offended by oneupmanship - good grief talk about being divisive and putting words into people's mouths. I never even took it that way, it didn't even cross my mind!

Please, please don't feel that you have upset me in any way, 'cos you haven't, I have only felt support and kindness from you whenever I have seen you on any of my threads.

With love WMxx

Well sort of. The lovely young man who came (can't you tell I'm short of male company?) told me he was surprised to see such an antique system still in operation and that we have not yet been burned to the ground!!!

Am now waiting for his boss (freind of the family) to get back to me to tell me when he can send some of his lads to rewire for me!

Kids ok in own rooms now have set up lamps for them!

But on the bright side we got home today to find one of the guinea pigs has had 3 babies - didn't even know she was preganant, just thought she was FAT!!!!

Congratulations to your guinea pig! Is that what you had in mind when you asked 'what else can happen this week?'

not quite!!!

It made up for the 15 minutes I had just had to sit in the gutter (yes really!) with DS outside Pizza Hut before he was calm enough to return to our table!!! All because I asked him to choose between a pizza or spag bol!
