Just found itunes U (university).

I've come across some interesting talks by Uta Frith. Listening to one discussing whether autism has one cause or many and whether AS should be separated out as different from autism.

They're short but very informative. There's probably other good stuff on there.

I've just downloaded them all - probably an unwelcome reminder that I'm supposed to be editing podcasts myself! Still you have to listen to professional ones to work out how it's done so it counts as work.

Never ! A good excuse is that they are not about autism or any kind of special needs. Although probably most people think lawyers have their kind of special needs !

I used to be a lawyer . aspie tendencies (including completely inability to blag with clients, and lack of interest in wearing makeup!) rather hampered that as a career though...

I listened to some from the UC Davis MIND institue specifically on autism like -can children with autism recover?, early denver model (combination of ABA and PRT/floortime i think), use of technologies & video modelling (kids earning faster from watching vidoes of handwashing with step by step instructions, software like teachtown.com, discrete trial trainer, Baldi etc), biomed research, plasticity of the brain, myths and realities of ASD. I'm amazed by what they're researching and what the states are funding over there.

The video podcasts are over an hour long but have been worth it. some had video demos of different techniques. there's a recent one with the new theory of mind modified from the original theory of mind in autism. decided to buy an ipod and download it to show the bloody ed psych who keeps saying things like 'it's not possible to give a diagnosis of autism before the age of 3' and 'no one can get a statement until they're going to mainstream school unless they have obvious disabilities like down's syndrome or cerebral palsy', 'there's no proof that these therapies work'

I would recommend the UC Davis podasts and the floortime foundation radio webcasts on itunes.
