Oh arse - didn't return the DLA form on time, and now they want to know....

why I didn't return it on time ?

I can think of plenty of responses, but somehow I don't think any of these would be the responses that the DLA team are looking for - any thoughts as to what my reason should be? Obviously apart from the fact that I am simply crap at getting these things done.

HAVE YOU CHECKED (OOps) what date you sent it? i got sent one of those letters too, and i know for a fact they got it on time and it must have been sat in someones intray for 10 days!

I sent it on 13th... they wanted it by the 17th and they say they received it on the 26th!!!

I highly doubt that the post physically took 13days to get there! Their postal issues are not my problem.

Unfortunately my fault - I am crappola.

Tclanger, good thinking, I think I'll go with your suggestion. DD had a paed appt in May, so I could say that I was waiting to get the letter back following the appt.

Hi sorry to thread crash but can anyone tell me how long you get to send the form back? I just got my new form and it doesn't say when it has to be back by, just that the old claim ends 20th Dec this year so it may be delayed if I don't send it back asap. Need to get DD's consultant to do her bit and also haven't even heard back from the family worker who I've asked to help me with it and don't know when she'll have an appointment free either. The form came while I was on holiday so its already been two weeks

you just need to get it back BEFORE the other one runs out in that instance U2BT, its only new ones that have a 6wk life span... then they just backdate the money (if awarded) to the date they got the form back.

Bear in mind tho some applications have been known to take up to 5-6mth!!! so if you send in a renewal form only shortly before the old award runs out.. you may be left for some time without payment

they seem to be taking ages to process claims right now. I put in for reassessment of DSs claim and 14 weeks later we have still not heard anything!

Oh thanks misscutandstick. And Bonkerz that is a long time. When I put DD's first claim in I heard back within three weeks! I am so scared because it is fairly likely that it will be put down to middle rate care and I know how random it can be too so my worst fear is we lose it completely therefore losing carers allowance and the extra tax credits. I still don't feel able to leave DD with anyone and work so am worried about where that would leave us. Yuck. Anyway good luck with it Chonky!
