I am so glad we just went for it. DS 3 ASD was not scared of the plane and found it very exciting. He was a little over excited but he was fine. I've noticed a lot more people looking at him now- when he squeals and makes faces although he is only 3 his behaviour does not really match his age iyswim.

He adapted really well and really enjoyed it. We took rice milk and GFCF snacks with us. We risked the hotel food open buffet- tried to pick anything that had no obvious milk/gluten in and put peptizyde on it. Had no bad effects. We took just the basic vits with us.

DS really enjoyed swimming in the hotel pool (although it took about 10 mins to persuade him to go in) and he also loved walking in the shallow lagoon. There were also other children with SN at the hotel and resort-Olu Deniz as its quite flat and has gentle shallow waters. I dont know when we would be able to go again or how easy it will be to take him later on so Im glad we did it now.

That sounds great . Love hearing stories about DCs being fine on planes, as our trip to Florida is now less than a year away! Were you allowed to take enough rice milk for whole trip? Drinks are one thing that worry me - DS2 only drinks rice milk and James White organic pear juice

We didn't take any milk for the plane journey itself, just packed a load in the suitcase. My Ds will happily drink water though. Maybe you should explain in advance and they might allow you t take it on the plane if you taste it- like they do with baby milk.

How did your DS cope with the flight?

My parents have just bought somewhere in Turkey and I've flatly refused to go with DD1 as I don't think I could cope with her for a long flight.

He was fine with the flight cktwo. I'm lucky because he open to new experiences; He got very excited and was squealing a bit and was kicking the chair of the person in front but luckily when we sat him up properly he couldn't reach with his legs so it solved that dilemma. we bought quite a few toys to distract him with. It was a 4 hour flight but it was fine.

He sounds quite similar to my DD1 although she has no dx. I've flown with her a few times but on the last flight home she started banging her head against the seat and I found it quite difficult to distract her out of it. It's not that hard at home but there's limitations on a plane!

Cktwo I would say try it after my experience. We went knowing there were no guarantees but thinking at least we tried. Sorry to be nosey but would you go alone or with a partner?

Great you had a break! Last time I took DS on a plane I managed to keep him in the seat for about 10 minutes, he then figured out how to open the belt (which I felt really happy about actually!!), and it was down hill from then on, walking up and down the aisle and not a hope in hell to keep him still.
A few nice people just smiled at him, but there was one woman giving me the evil eye. I was just counting the minutes for the flight to end!!!

Staryeyed, I'd be with DH but we've got DD2 as well and she's only 18 months.
I may chicken out this year and go next ywar when they're both a bit bigger.

Well done you though, you're a braver woman than I
