I don't like the way she is presumably using her connections to get attention for her L'Oreal lifestyle - because I'm worth it, I should have 2 properly maintained and MOT'd children ! but it may not work out the way she is expecting.

no, they said something along the lines of "are you in a similar position? do you find it hard to cope... in which case we want to hear from you, in strictest confidence of course." .. would it be really out of order for me to email the programme and express how disgusting it is to portray abandoning a 5 month old disabled baby as normal? and how it is an insult to parents of children with sn who do care for them 24-7 until they have to move on to the care of others because their needs can no longer be met by one parent alone that this woman considers herself in the same camp?

I do not have a child with sn and so perhaps I am speaking out of turn here, so please do tell me if those of you who have more personal experience would rather I didn't.

You do have sn though don't you wannabe? Sorry if I've remembered this wrong. I think that your opinion is perfectly valid.

It is fine for Wannabe to e-mail. But I believe we do also need some others, with sn children, don't we ?

Report
Oblomov · 11/03/2008 13:16

Don't think you can email a thread without agreement from HQ

Report
wannaBe · 11/03/2008 13:23

no I'm not sure about that either. there have been enough trolls signing up just to opinionate on that thread, and a lot of personal stuff/experience is on there, to give it to the media is like supping with the devil.

I don't think we should e-mail either of the threads. It is too much to digest.
But e-mails from some of the sn mums seems the best idea, non ?

I think it would be very effective if people with SN children, especially those who have similar disabilities to Immie, were to phone in and briefly talk of their children and how much they love their children, how much of a positive impact their children have had on their and their other children's lives. It would send the message out to parents who are worried that their child might be disabled that it's not doom and gloom, that lives won't be ruined, without any accusations that JH is being judged.
