My dd2 was born 18 months ago after a nomral pregnancy and delivery - she was floppy and pale and the doctors diagnosed blood/ oxygen starvation. They told us that she was likely to have severe brain damage. Her kidneys were also badly damaged but we were told they could repair themselves. After 6 months when she was developing normally they told us her brain damage was not as severe as they thought and after 18 months they 'think' that she has no brain damage at all. Which is fantstic.

They have however recently done some tests on her kidneys. on a scan they showed up bright which indicates damage and she has had 3 sets of blood tests in as many months and her urea levels are high. We are being referred to a specialit at Jimmy's in Leeds.

Just wondered if anyone had experience of kidney problesm in children and what this could mean. They just keep telling us not to worry but I am.

Have no experience of this but didn't want you to think nobody had read it!! I know that worry is the worst thing to deal with - try not to. I am sure the specialist will explain everything to you. Hopefully someone will come along with experience of this.
