Dt1(3) appt has finally arrived. We meet 2 phsychologists tomorrow at 9.30 for around 1-2 hrs.

I AM SO DAN NERVOUS!!!!

I want some answers for my son, I want the violence to stop, the swearing I want the nice wee boy to be there all the time.

I feel like they will be judging us as parents too.

Just wanted to rant a bit there sorry

They don't always judge the parents...but just in case, someone on here advised me to take to a meeting a list of all the 'strategies' we try with our son. It meant that we didn't spend the meeting batting away 'have you tried...?'s and didn't get told to go to parenting classes! May be worth doing - what are you hoping for from tomorrow's appointment?

Good luck.

Hiya

ahven't seen a general psych (have seen Ed Psych and I hate to see it but the first was a twat, suggested we lock DS1 in his room!) but spent my first year at Uni sharing Psych lectures with the Psych undergrds and you know what? They were fine. Their job isn't to judge you as aprents, its to try and work out whats going on with Dt1 and to suss out the family dynamics (which I think ywith you are fine but we all know some famillies where things are less so after all)

They certainly will not be judging you- sometimes there are things going on that you cant see for the trees 9for example I thought ds1 melted down (he's HFA) when DH was work because I was more vulnerable alone; ina ctuality it was becuase he WANTED dh to come home and had learned that the action of mimicking the more genuine meltdowns brought Dh home on emergency leave and once recognised we managed to address that

good luck for tomorrow- hope all goes well JB. A vioklent child is a heartbreak in so many ways I know, lets hope this is a step forwards for you both

we have submitted a diary of his behaviours etc to phsychology as requested a few months ago- also we have attended the parenting course too so all avenues covered there.

I think I want a reason as to why DT1 is this way bless him whether I get it or not who knows!!!

Good luck for tomorrow -DS2's psych hasn't actually been very helpful in terms of ideas & strategies but is lovely, in no way judgemental & really "gets" ds2.
In fact has always been very positive about the strategies we have tried.

I hope you get some answers.
