you imagine they will ever have a smear done?
can it be done under sedation?

she'd not need smears unless or until she was sexually active. If that is likely I suppose you would ensure she had the new vaccine.

Hello Pollyanna(hope you come to xmas meet up)

2 shoes I have no idea on this one!!My dd is only nearly 2 and has global delay (very little speech, unable to stand/crawl at the mo) I was thinking about this sort of stuff when the piece about the mum wanting her sn daughter to have a hysterectomy came on the news a bit back. How will I deal with menstruation, hormonal changes and the like!Still,at the moment I guess the next bodily function thing will be potty training if this is going to be possible.Sorry not much help.I suppose sedation would be possible if it is really going to distress someone but that opens up another big area regarding consent and advocacy.....

Hi 2shoes - yes am intending to come to meet up (without alcohol

I don't think (although could be wrong) that is right about smears 2shoes = a friend of mine didn't have sex until she got married and she was told she didn't have to have smears.

You can still get cervical cancer without ever having sex. Its just less common.
I hadn't thought of that with dd. She's only 3 but have already wondered about nappies and pubic hair. Friend said she shaved her child cos it was cleaner with poo and periods but am fretting already about whole thing.
I'm more worried about non-verbal child getting appendicitis ad being unable to tell or point (dd has severe CP) until its to late. I don't have smears myself so not worried about them.

don't worry about the pubic hair bit. I think if anything it protects them.

How do you get it all clean? No-one ever tells you this stuff do they!! And what about boobs and cross over straps on wheelchairs. DD needs full support and her straps cross over where her boobs will be.
Like to get my worrying done in advance
Thank goodness she isn't a boy who will need shaving1

strange you should mention straps. we are having to have a sling replaced due to the strap being right on her boobs
Never thought about wheelchair straps as she only has the waist one on most the time. and the other can be loosened.
She did have a cross over one when younger but they can be changed as they get older.
with cleaning ask me on ttr as I am not talking about that on the www
