Spent DD's whole time at preschool asking if I should be concerned that her speech was behind the rest of her year, they brushed it off, told me they all develop differently.
1st term at proper school, parent's evening tonight - she asked if we would like DD referred to the SALT lady I hadn't mentioned her speech at all.
We told her our AS issues a couple of weeks ago when we had a meltdown over her reading book changing without warning. She was lovely, we said about it tonight, and she said now they know, they will keep it in mind, not make any sudden changes to things, understand why she might sob her heart out over things.
I have come back filled with confidence that her teacher a) understands and b) is looking out for her (in as such that she has picked up on the need for a SALT assessment without us pushing).
A good end to a crappy day
