Our NCT newsletter editor has emailed me to say that she wants to include some info in the next newsletter about how joe public can get more involved with people with special needs (ie being a volunteer at the orpheus centre, working at a local club etc). And ideas on how we can raise awareness

Just thought i would ask here if any of you had any ideas/thoughts that she could include?

Volunteer to help out with a specialist programme such as ABA or patterning type stuff (ie helping with intensive physio.)

Helping in special school to make resources.
A few hours of time to create pictures for PECS is fantastic.

we have a programme called pip, which is pupil integration programme or something like that, they have volunteers who do the brownie and cub stuff etc, and also for school hols clubs and that, not used them as of yet but am hoping for some help off them for summer hols, also involved with surestart who run a couple of clubs aimed at sn kids, we also have a scheme called face to face, which runs a befriending service for peeps who have kids with sn, most prob recently dx, could always get intouch with the disability team at ss, as they will have lots of answers i should think, good luck with the article.
