Hi guys, sorry to come on here ranting when I've not been on here for ages but I'm so bloody stressed out! After much deliberation about having a third baby and fears of autism etc I am 8 weeks pregnant after a miscarriage earlier in the year. But had a really scary scan on Monday (see pregnancy board, have ranted there) and they're not sure what's going on. Am feeling really stressed and negative about the pregnancy, like it's not meant to be. Throwing up all day doesn't help. And, this is a SN query,dd has taken to putting her hands in her mouth and down her throat ALL DAY. Anybody come across this? Gets worse after eating. Could it be reflux? Yours miserably, JakBX

Hi Jak, sorry you are having a hard time, will go and check out the other board in a mo. Just wanted to quickly say that Ds has done this hands down the throat thing. He used to do it all the time and I've no idea why. He doesn't do it so much now so hopefully your dd will get fed up with it at some point too.

Congratulations on No.3! Dh has been dropping hints about having another one but I'm not so sure. We're getting on a bit now .

Jak I gave your other thread a bump but couldn't post anything useful.

Congratulations on the pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you that it all goes well. xx

Will be thinking of you on Monday jak.

Agree with Fio, the stress of it all is enough to send you bonkers.

Ds4 sticks fingers down throat and gags but he finds it funny so not reflux in hs case.

Big Hug.

PS read a Sunday supplement article about your playgroup a couple of months ago, excellent

Sorry that you are having a hard time of it recently jakb

I have just emailed our psychologist to tell him that DD sticks her fingers down her throat, she has only started doing it and seems to like it, DS used to do it when he was a toddler , he now says he used to do it to get his own way.

Ill post a reply when the psych replies back.

Ah, guys, thanks so much for your support. Fio, I so know what you mean. I'm sorry you're having pregnancy stress too. It's like a form of depression! I have decided that because I have very bad sickness (like DD) the baby definitely has autism and that this strange scan is all a sign and what have I done? Nothing like a positive mental attitude, eh?! Anyway, hopefully the scan on Monday will throw more light on the situation. Just about getting through the day at the moment, TBH. And thanks for all your responses about the hand down the throat. It's so heartening to know other children have done it and that it's stopped! Be really interested to know what your psych says Jenk. Speak later and thanks again, JakBX

JakB
I can completely empathise with you with the pg / mc / waiting and worrying stuff. Sorry that you are in limbo. I wish you all the best
(I am 13+5 and currently waiting for cvs results to see whether baby has the same unbalanced translocation as my dd, the other 'incompatible with life' translocation or is OK in that respect. I am so anxious I could bite off my own hands!)

I've replied to your pregnancy post. DS1 went through a phase of fingers in mouth the entire day (loads of dribbling with it). About 6 months ago (he was 7) I wondered if his back teeth were beginning to move/come through.

Thankyou JakB - same to you. I got my results yesterday and all is fine - peanut doesn't even have balanced translocation like me so isn't even a carrier. I am so chuffed. I hope monday brings you reassurance x

Hi Fio, thanks for asking. Scan went much better. They now think it's simply a herniated gut which is, apparently, totally normal at this stage of development. Relieved, but still very anxious. Also got terrible vomiting- doctor thinks it is hyperemesis- which is making me feel really low. Particularly as I had terrible sickness with DD.

ejb- that's fantastic news! So pleased for you!
