Hi just as above really. We're currently going through the process of a ehcp. Looks very likely we are going to get one.
We want to name a Sen school. Ds is still in pre school but should off really started school this September.
Will we have a fight on our hands to get them to agree to a Sen school?

It does depend on the child's needs. If you have a convincing need, preferably backed up by experts then you need to make a good case. I think our statement was about 7 pages long and addressed different issues. Like communication and what our named school could offer in comparison to the MS. IPSEA will help.

Thankyou I will look into ipsea, I have not heared of them before.
He has quite a lot of needs and I believe a Sen school could meet all of them.
I also know main stream can not meet most of them

Have you identified a special school which you feel could meet your childs needs? If so, does the school have a space for him? This could be a factor. Good luck

Yes we've identified a school and they said they don't say weather they have space because that's not how it works.
But I've actually deferred him a year so he doesn't have to start till next September if they don't have space now

They are trained in pecs and we are just starting on them.
They are trained to deal with his stimming issues. And when he bites hisself etc.
Also less kids to adults ratio

In your position I would ring the LA, you should have a named caseworker, and tell them that you want the SS naming on DS EHCP

I'm finding it all slightly confusing at the moment and it's so hard to make the right decision xxx
