Ds has fine motor issues.
Use to have a scribe but uses laptop in secondary.
Part of his IPA (pointless non statutory agreement to meet needs) is that he attends the already set up touch type club everyweek. Took a term to get them to agree to record progress - I've not had feed back yet.
Took a while to fight ELSA support being moved from a certain day after school due to another club he attends - and school agrees the club is good for DS. Just managed to get it moved from after school on another day to during a certain weekly lesson once a week during school day.
So today I get a letter. To say that all students who have laptop benefit etc. That they can use it for GCSE if it's what they usually use.
But that all pupils who have a laptop must attend a minimum of 6 weeks touch typing on the same day I originally moved ELSA from. It starts 15 minutes after school day ends and is for an hour. If they pass it they get a certificate and if they don't they have to continue going.
Failure to attend and pass may result in loss of laptop.
I'm so tired of fighting a school who refuse to recognise DS emotional needs and academic needs.
It seems so childish and not exactly air entail to say - fine take laptop but I also have had DS falling apart since I told him about having to quit the club as they have started something and he's already starting on it.
