Specialist came to see DD today

Not quite sure what her title is but she came with the SALT lady.
She wanted to observe DD eating as she has problems with choking and will only eat soft foods.

She asked a lot of questions about how she used to feed, her illnesses etc and at the end she said she would put money on the fact that dd has had reflux due to her hemiplegia and that if it had been picked up they could have give her medication to help her when she was a small baby, i told her that i had her backwards and forwards to GP, health visitors and nothing was done
She said that most babies grow out of reflux as dd has mostly but that the after effects are children who are scared of eating anything thats chewy,hard or not easy to swallow and as DD only eats mashed food,pasta,rice,yoghurt this is whats happened.

She then asked to have a look at her tonsils and said they were HUGE and that they are contributing to her eating problems DD has had tonsilitis 3/4 times in the last year and she,s referring her to ENT.

Then i asked would a tonsilectomy require a general anasthetic and she said yes and i said "well we have another problem then because me my mum and sister are all allergic to scoline an anasthetic that is commonly used and she said "well im not bothering with the local hospital she can go to Manchester Childrens hospital.

So, thats yet another health scare for dd, i feel sorry for her, she,s been through a lot.

Oh and the SALT lady said they have noticed the "echolalia" and the limited imaginative play and that her speech is behind, all things ive been saying for nearly a year but at least they are finally listening.

Still as you say at least they are listening and something is going to get done

Just need to whip that LEA into shape now
