Ds is 5, he can walk, but has low tone, tires easily, and relies heavily on his buggy (a Tom cross stroller from wheelchair services).

We have just come back from a camping trip, where I ended up sitting under a tree with him whilst all the others tramped through forests, fields and beaches - I would love to try and get something that means he can access all these things.

His buggy has mild postural supports, as he has a tendency to slump when tired or ill, but I don't think these would be necessary if it wasn't used as a main buggy.

Any recommendations? Smile

2 of my friends have Special Tomato 3 wheelers, they do a nice 4 wheeler too which a family I know have.

They are lovely to push and go up to 8 yrs I think. They are bulky though and dont fold very small but you can take the wheels off!

Hope you get something Smile

They can be fitted with postural supports too Smile

Newlife charity funded 2 of the buggies and the 3rd was bought by parents!

Not the most compact but a bike trailer with the buggy kit might work. Ours folds flat and the wheels are quick release but the bar to connect it to the bike means it's still quite long.

I used it regularly for the school run till he was about 7.

I liked the look of the mountain buggy XL, a bigger seat and footplate on the normal mountain buggy frame. They stopped making them years ago though and my ebay stalking failed me.

Thankyou all.

In packing away the camping stuff today, dh discovered that a City Jogger Select that I thought I had given to a friend, was actually at the back under a pile of stuff!! I tried ds in it, and, as he is very short, he fits in it fine - hopefully we can use this for a couple of years or until it falls apart (which ever come sooner!!)

In the meantime i will keep my eyes on ebay for a Mountain Buggy XL.

Oh the things that lurk behind the camping stuff pile. Glad you found something that works for now though.
