Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any information on this topic. Just seems that ds is going through a phase of being more bothered by noise and smells etc, as well as the usual upheaval of puberty. School thinks he is being difficult when he complains about smells etc as smells and noise did not bother him in the past.

The last time ds displayed similar types of challenging behaviour, the OT implemented a sensory programme. I am trying to convince school to look into SPD affecting behaviour rather than dismissing it as defiance and challenging authority (although admittedly there is some of that too). DS is in a special BESD school and I think it might be helpful in dealing with ds to take into consideration his ASD and SPD issues too as the usual methods are not working.

Only the bit that he has SPD and OT overseeing programme and that staff will implement programme. OT is trying to sign him off now saying that his behaviour is normal teenage stuff but not saying that he does not need OT or that his SPD is now manageable.
