Experiences of SEN Mediation after being turned down for assessment

Can anyone tell me how their SEN Mediation turned out?

Was it a positive outcome or a waste of time?

Did any difficulties get resolved informally.

I'm hoping that the LA will agree to assess with an uptodate EP report (they said old one was too old) and further evidence of his lack of progress since Year 3. I don't really want to go to Tribunal (although I don't want them to know that)

We were initially turned down for assessment due to school not being truthful. We had a mediation meeting, took our box of evidence and the decision was reversed in 10 minutes

I am lead to believe its happening a lot more under the EHC system but that mediation is sorting things out generally

In my authority mediation in a waste of time, the sen case workers have made their decision and will not be budged. Under the new system you dont actually have to have mediation to move on the the next step (sendist) but you do need to have contacted the company organising the mediation.

I hope your authority is like schrodingersmum's.

Good luck Flowers

Yes I knew I didn't have to go patience but I think I am just going to see what happens next. Reading the Ipsea description of preparation for Tribunal made it seem pretty insurmountable considering he is home educated at the moment.
