DLA til 2024

I've just started getting DLA for my DS who is 7. We would have qualified around 4 years ago but I didn't know much about DLA and assumed we wouldn't be eligible.

DS has been given HRC and LRM. It says this is from now til 2024. Does this mean that's it now til then and then we reapply if necessary or do we renew every year.

Yes they have awarded him until he is 16, we managed to get that for Dd3 too but MRC, we also didnt apply for ages but I am very glad we took the plunge. It means we can do things with her that would have been out of reach otherwise Smile

That's great then as the form is so long and took me a couple of weeks to write everything down that we needed to say. I didn't fancy doing that annually.

It was the lovely SENCO at DS's school that told me I should apply. I am a little gutted that we didn't know earlier as it would have meant me not having to work to spend more time with all the SALT exercises he needs to do and around the time he was 3/4 I spent most of my time swapping work as I had appointments coming out of my ears.

It's done now though and I am very pleased with the result. Looking forward to him starting swimming lessons. He did them as a baby with me but when left on his own to go in his behaviour was unmanageable by the teacher. He loves it but wouldn't follow the class so I had to take him out. Really need 1:1 classes but they are sooo expensive. At least now we can do that.

Well done. Awful form, but glad it has paid off so you have some fun things to look forward to

We got the same length for the same age child, just we got MRC and LRM. But was very relieved and surprised to get it until DD is 16.
