We saw a specialist health visitor, a physio and an OT.
Health visitor got my goat straightaway as she obviously hadnt read DD,s notes where our usual Paed agrees with us that she is ASD and started poo poohing everything we said with things like "it could be learned behaviour from her brother and she,s not used to interacting with children because her brother has AS, to which i hit back erm well she,s in full time nursery and has been for over 10 months and "she,s too clingy, its an attention thing and she should be asleep throughout the night, if she wants to scratch her face and head bang then let her, she,s not going to kill herself
I cant believe that last statement, now people can call us soft but i know its not an attention thing she,s genuinely frightened on her own at night in the day all she wants to do is sit on my knee and play with my hair and all she wants to do at nursery is be carried around by her jey worker - learned behavviour FGS.
Oh and when we told her that she wears Peltor Ear Defenders when she is in a noisy environment she said that is not a good thing and that she has to get used to noisy environments.
After about 10 mins she said to me "i can tell by the look on your face that you are thinking that im talking absolute rubbish arent you?"
So i laughed and told her that i have been through so many professionals with DS and i know what my daughter has and that i also know she has a job to do blah blah and at the end of it she asked me to come and speak to a support group she has running on how to parent kids with an ASD.
So she needs to make her mind up, either she thinks im talking out of my backside or she sees me as some kind of authority, oh its a long road ahead and we,ve not even met the Developmental Paed yet, hope thats not going to be like today.
We are back there next week to see Ed Psych, Paed and SALT.
