first appointment what to expect

My ds 4 has his first assessment on Monday been told its 2 hours long anybody know what happens how in-depth they go etc as I need to prepare him and me for this! I had a hard time filling out the forms and have mentally prepared a list for him. Help hate not knowing

What is he being assessed for? I imagine at the first appointment (mine wasn't that long) they will spend a fair bit of time talking to you about his history, family history etc. It would be a good idea to write down all the things that worry you to take with you as you are bound to forget otherwise. Assuming this is for a developmental concern, your ds will probably be given things to play with and they will watch him. They may also do some testing by giving him jigsaws, throwing and catching a ball, jumping, colouring etc. They are used to dealing with children! Also, if he does have a meltdown or behavioural issues well that is part of his package and does them no harm to see it.

He has an assessment for autism as the Dr said he had classic signs.
