Have been stupidly putting off claiming this for one of my kids, as still getting over the form when I did it for the other one (3 years ago) That claim was successful and the money has helped so much towards the extras they need.
Ware on our knees both with dealing with their disabilities and financially we are in such dire straits. I know we are stupid not claiming when they are entitled to - particularly as this child has greater needs - but it is such a massive task.
If I phone for the form and they send it out and return it within six weeks, I believe the DLA awarded is backdated to the day the form is applied for?
Does that mean I have to handwrite on the one they send me though?
Can I phone for the form to 'register' today as the "D - Day" date for application - but still fill in an online version, then print it out and send back?
The thought of doing it makes me feel sick. The thought of having to do it by hand, then photocopying it makes me feel even worse. As awful as doing the form is - at least typing the thing will make having a copy easier.
Any wise words from anyone who has done this recently?
Also would you enclose their most recent SEN statement? Just the main bit or all the reports etc. I know you need evidence - but not sure how much is required?
