class teacher/senco grabbed me at the end of school day to ask me to come to a meeting later this week to discuss dd new IEP. she mentioned something in passing about 'statement' and as I walked away I suddenly wondered if the LA were coming to the meeting later in the week.

I text the teacher to clarify the purpose of the meeting (I know - texting...) and she responded to say no just a meeting to discuss new IEP, LA wont be there but then went onto say that the LA officer ( school is out of county and in the middle of nowhere) would be calling to the school later this evening to collect her IEP and latest levels info.

im a bit peeved that a) my LA continue to be able to make personalvisits to a school out of county so easily b) I haven't even seen this IEP nor have I agreed it and may want changes c) I have no idea what her latest levels are yet d) if la officer collecting so late she must be collecting it on her way home which makes me wonder where my daughters personal information is being stored overnight.

the teacher also mentioned they had taken a new pupil interview - whatever that is - that I may wish to look at as well. my friend think it is my daughters views for tribunal which again I have not given permission for school to do and also to discuss her secondary transition..... all very very odd given that I have no idea which school she will go to and is it a fishing exercise on behalf of my LA or am I simply reading too much into everything

So they have handed over an IEP that you havent agreed to, had the chance to alter or sign Hmm That is very bad practice!! You are supposed to be there when the IEP is written if you want to be!!

I would be ring the LA and asking them to send it back until you have had the opportunity to see it!!

The views for tribunal thing really doesnt surprise me, I have heard of that happening before. My LA habe sent them to our house but in the refusal to assess tribunal they did not refer to it or even mention it once!! They just go through the motions Angry

Can you do a subject access request ?? They will have to send it to you then. Or maybe before that go direct to the HT and ask to see the "New pupil interview".

I understand why you feel the need to read too much into everything!! I feel like it too Sad

I'm meeting the class teacher tomorrow morning so will ask for it then, sounds like she is going to show me it. Another statemented child also did it so I'm unclear if that is her views but even if it is I will get my daughter to do her own anyway.

It's also how the teacher is going to talk about transition to secondary school - is this normal for a mainstream school to do this, I guess she is trying to find out which school we are going for so she can feed back to the LA but in all honesty I haven't decided yet as the open evenings are ongoing. The class teacher is also the senco/head as well!

I am going to do a subject access request but I'm waiting quietly in the wings to let them continue to write in her file , I'm going to do it in a couple of weeks so can get it all before final evidence deadline.

I just wonder if any data protection here has been breached

just had the email now to say they want to take her views and to arrange to take her to parent partnership - quite tempted to respond okay not a problem - but then raise the question over the IEP and ask them to confirm that the paperwork was taken back to the office and that the IEP has not been seen or agreed by myself nor has my signature upon it
