School being reluctant to let me see child's file

Has anybody else had this?

I have an appointment with the paediatrician on Thursday and have asked school if I can see their file so that I can copy anything relevant so that I am as prepared as possible for the meeting (and to know what they have that I don't as I believe this is an increasing amount).

She has written back to say that she is not able to make copies of anything and that the paed will write to her if he needs any information from her in due course.

I have replied saying that it is not about him being informed, but me also.

I am awaiting her response which I am almost positive will be to the negative.

So much for information sharing.

What Frusso said. You have to put your request in writing then they have 15 days to respond. I had to do this at DS's last school to get copies of some documents for tribunal but the HT was very helpful and i got them 2 days later.

Thanks Polter

She's avoiding saying no by saying that if the Pead needs to know/see stuff, he can ask for it.

I am going to hopefully get a copy of the document that I most want to see which is the report that she sent at the end of last term to the School Health doctor.

When I've got that and had the appointment on Thursday, I will then reconsider the necessity of seeing the file and perhaps leave it until there is a time when I have a greater need for full disclosure.

She's also decided that we don't need anymore TAF/CAF meetings so may well ask for the file when I speak to her about that.

Just to update:
I spoke to SureStart CCW about this when I went to confirm that she's pass our file on as agreed.
She was arranging TAF meetings and has now passed this to school who have decided not to continue them as things were "plodding along" (something else I do not agree with).

She is going to contact school an if she gets no joy will approach her manager's next level up as the manager was sat in the room with an Blush face and suggested that she do so.

So waiting to hear back.....
