ADHD hyperactivity

I have a daughter with ADHD, and I've heard of people a few times recently that the hyperactive element usually goes away as they mature. Has anyone any experience of this? My daughter is 7, and I feel like all my patience for her constant loud volume and boistrous activity ran out a long time ago. I think if she wasn't full volume all the time I'd be a lot more patient. My heart sinks when I hear her stamping down the stairs in the morning. I know that's awful. I yearn for a calmer house though, am I dreaming?

10 yo and still bouncing off the walls if unmedicated, here (and sometimes if medicated, too, depending on other factors). Mine has ASD, too, though, and a lot of sensory issues.

Hi Dave I did not think that it was a case of it going away, just that you and your daughter have strategies in place for such a long time that they become second nature and so perhaps it does not happen anymore or as severely because of everything that you've both put in place over the years.

I honestly believe the "out growing" ADHD line is to cover themselves when they misdiagnoses it (it does happen).

Although as everyone gets older they tend to calm down a bit, so there will be a degree of calming down.
