Can you talk to me about Headsprout....

If your DC use it, what has it it achieved and what is the youngest age you would recommend it for?

My DS is 4.5 (with possible aspergers) can read and I wonder if it might benefit him and if so how.

It teaches reading through using phonics.

you said your DS can read. At what level? Sight reading or us he using phonics to decode words?

There is also a headsprout readung comprehension programme (but I haven't used it). Have you run a search on here about headsprout? There were a few threads about it which you might find useful.

Main Headsprout would be of little use as it is for non/emergent readers - the comprehension one was very useful to my then 9 year old who could read but lacked 'understanding' and is very structured and helps explain what words 'do' and helps understand context and questioning words etc

choc because he started sight reading words just after 2yo I started showing him how to use phonics at around 2.6yo. I tend to check he understands what he is reading about by asking him what is going on (on every page ) and he seems to. I haven't checked his level of reading but he can read annuals/ picture books and the ORT (level 6) books. The headsprout comprehension programme sounds very interesting, I shall have a look at that thanks for mentioning it and to you Letitbee
