I have had enough!

I chased the Autism Outreach Team who i wrote to 6 weeks ago about my son who they last visited in school 11 months ago- i plucked up the courage and phoned them ....to be told that THEY NEED THE HEAD TEACHER TO 'INVITE' THEM INTO SCHOOL- IT IS THEIR POLICY!

Well it sucks.

And to think that they had my letter 6 weeks and i've been an idiot thinking that all this time they were actually 'considering my son's difficulties'

Cannot believe that they dont at least contact the school to get 'their side of the story'.

I am sick of it all. I am angry and now feel alienated against them as well as the school. I thought they were there to help families of 'inclusive educated children'

So whilst i felt so cross i hurridley wrote to the school and handed that letter in at 3.15.....as i went through the school the Head was having a lovely quiet cup of tea-so i sneaked to reception!!!! Coward i know!!!

anyhow i have requested she refer to them for the visit from the outreach team i'd like- and i also stated that NOTHING has been done from my last letter 7 weeks ago to her- and infact Thomas is struggling more- and i've given her a deadline of 20th April.....seemed fair with easter holidays etc.

This may be a common problem MrsF. My friend's son's school refused Autism Outreach visits. Her son lasted half a term at the school (now doing a home ABA programme).

Autism outreach should have responded to your letter though.

That seems like a really strange policy. Obviously they wouldn't be allowed on the school premises without permission but I don't understand why they can't contact the school on your behalf, MrsF. Surely they should have replied to your letter to at least let you know what is going on?
