Ds2 is leaving the mainstream nursery next week to attend a mixed mainstream/special needs nursery.

The lady that was assigned as ds2's 1-1 is lovely and has gone way beyond the call of duty to help him. I want to get her something nice to show my appreciation. Any ideas??

The two TA's who have done such sterling work for my DS are going to each receive a silver photo frame. I've bought a complete set of Biff and Chip books for the SENCO's reading class.

I will chicken out and hand the items into the school office in about a weeks time because I will have tears in my eyes otherwise. DS is off to Juniors in September so will no longer be working with these three fine ladies.

As one door closes another opens.....

If I can get my act together in time I am going to make them each a little keepsake book. Perhaps a few little pics of Amelia and some apt wording!!!

Better get my skates on though!!

Keepsake books sounds lovely dingle - and very personal. I think I will make a homemade card with a picture of Matthew, but cant think what to give as a present...hmmm.

Attila - Know what you mean about keeping the emotion in check. I feel the same too!

I too have bought some books for the nursery - All kinds of people and Susan Laughs - so that the other children can remember Matthew.

A photoframe is a nice idea....trouble is...I dont really know her that well and therefore I'm loathed to get something too personal.

Do you think a voucher for some pampering would be nice??

Hi Merlot,

Pampering vouchers do sound nice and would no doubt be appreciated by her.

DS picked out the photoframes whilst on holiday in the US so I can say they're from him!.

Glad someone else feels the same re emotions as well!. Will hide behind my dark glasses on the last day of term in two weeks time.

With best wishes

Attila x

When Ds2 left his 1:1 at nursery I made her a card with his photo on and I also cooked some chocolate brownies and put them on a nice plate with ribbons etc. I know it's not that original but I think if you have gone to the effort to make it yourself then it sort of counts for more. Depends whether baking is your thing or not. (Tbh the presentation side of it is not my strongest point - I used about 10m of ribbon trying to get it to look normal ). Oh and I gave her some wine also. A really nice bouquet of flowers is another possibility?

Last year for Christmas ( end of our school year) I gave dd1's teachers some white choc fudge in ceramic bowls, tied with cellophane and ribbon. Then attached a handstitched card for it. When dd1 left playgroup to go to centre based - teacher was given a silver photo frame, class aide was given a notebook with angels and a lovely ceramic mug. ( Big on angels.)

I like the idea of a keepsake book - perhaps pics from the start of his time at nursery to the end - reminder of how far he has come.

Then something personal for her iyswim - pamper voucher for example.

Can't really go wrong with silver frame - no matter people's taste.
