shove your caring carrot up your arse thread #397 (a rant will ensue)

just had a meeting to close the CAF that was opened by the SENCO who has never since shown her face and is now off to Pastures New

DD is high-achieving, scoring 4/5 across the board apparently
apart from in spelling where school are now asking ME if they should have a dyslexia assessment Angry

she is fine with transitions
apart from on the school trip where she was stood WITH her CT and openly declared she was lost Sad

she is fine with social communication
apart from when the CT asks the whole class a question and DD expects to be able to answer it and sulks when CT doesn't choose her and tries to talk over her classmates Hmm

she has great emotional communication, she knows why people might be unhappy/or excited
apart from she just says she's happy all the time, even when she's not [ffs]

but we work so hard with her at home, and she is a credit to us, no-one would guess she has ASD

fucking caring carrots, shove them up your arse and have a PRSA 1st week in september to chew on instead

That Is All

Sucks doesn't it. Sorry. Is there a new Senco coming, if this useless one is leaving? Perhaps he/she'll be better

I've just had our Annual Review, and while ds's CT this year has been amazing, he still comes out with the "they all do that though" line. Hmm

I'll be joining you with Wine later.

Ds is "cured" it's just bad parenting don't ya know, so we'll exclude Mum from all meetings with therapists, next year's transition plans, academic progress, who his current TA is, or anything else she might consider remotely relevant. Confused.

The SENCO may have been seen in outer Mongolia back in Feb, none of the playground Mum's are quite sure who started that rumour but we are all convinced it's true having searched high & low the last 2 termsWink.

In other news - the new vegetable patch got a full page spot a couple of weeks back in the local free paper.

Very experienced family worker asks me have I looked around the special schools yet, as mainstream is clearly going down the pan. Thick SENCO sits in meeting and tells them that their current minimal provision meets needs very well, and he doesn't need any additional input as 'lots of dc do that'. Then offers me an 'emotional support' service referral Angry

You recounting that about your senco and the parent support service has made me realise the CAF we've just had was nothing but a huge caring carrot:-O

Does your DD have a statement of special needs in place?. If not I would start applying for such a document asap. //www.ipsea.org.uk is a generally useful website.

CAF is a truly a lot of hot air and a caring carrot to boot.

i know, Attila

this CAF was meant to be a way to support DD, not brush her anxieties and needs under a rug

guess i've got myself some homework to do over the summer break Wink

i have been onto ipsea before, looks like i'll be onto them again

CAF to my mind is a waste of time and effort. Parents are the child's best - and only - advocates.

if you think CAFs are a waste of time and effort, what do you think of t Pastoral Care Plan...

yes, they have suggested this instead
