7 seater cars with room for wheelchair in the boot?

I had a thread on here a couple of weeks ago regarding ds who has severe autism and violence in the car.
I got some excellent advice, thank you again :)
Motorbility have agreed to end the current contract and the DWP are going to look at claim early on medical grounds (only 6 months left on current award)
OMG my head is sore from trying to find a car that will suit his needs 1)to isolate ds from anyone 2) so I can fit his wheelchair in the boot (he uses w/c full time when out)
Has anyone got any suggestions car wise please or anyone who has similar circumstances who has a seven seater car before I loose the will to live it would be hugely appreciated.

Most seven seaters have 2 seats in the boot. We have a Peugeot 5008 which seats 3 car seats across the middle row and 2 seats in the boot. If both boot seats are up there is hardly any room left. However, we can fit a full wheelchair in the boot with 1 seat up still. If you need all 7 seats and a wheelchair boot then you are probably looking at a minivan.

HTH and makes sense!

does the wheelchair fold? We have an old vw sharran people carrier that fits dd3s wheelchair when folded. Can you still search motability using boot space as a criteria?

Thanks Im I will have a look at that model.
Ninja yes the chair folds quite well, will take a look at that car as well. I could'nt find search criteria on the boot & 7 seats, just the amount of seats ( it looks like ther is no chance of nil advance payment though :) )
Thank you both

I think a folded wheelchair would fit in the back of my SMax but there would be no room for anything else.

I now have a new ford galaxy. I used to have a Peugeot 807 (now sadly discontinued). The problem is that all of these cars have got poor boot sizes. The 807 was good as I could permanently remove a seat in the middle row and then all 6 of us fitted in the car with room inside the car for any luggage when the boot was full of large double pushchair iyswim. The only thing that would be bigger is a VW transporter, Kia Sedona, Chrysler Grand Voyager or a Mercedes Valeo (sp).

Does it have to be a new car, or can you go for second hand?

If you can go second hand, have you considered something like a VW type 4 caravelle?

I know it's a van not a car, but they have quite a fan club, are practical and spacious. Dh is coveting one in place of our traditional VW Bay Window Camper, but ds1 won't allow it!

There's also the newer model, The type 5.

The Mercedes Viano comes in two different lengths I think, as does the VW van afaik, giving a bigger boot to the standard models.

That's right outnumbered SWB - short wheel base and LWB - long wheel base.

ooh, lovely thank you all :)
When I was searching on the motorbility all I seemed to get was the zaffira which has no boot!!

We have a similar problem with our son. We checked out the chrysler grand voyager as it has two very separate seats on the second row and a good third row of seats which didn't feel like 'temporary' seats. The stow and go system means that that third row can be lowered into a space in the boot, which would provide room I think for a wheelchair.

Not sure whether it's available on the motability scheme though.

Hope this helps.

sorry meant to say if the third row of seats stayed up, there could be room for a wheelchair.

If you need all 7 seats up then i'm not sure, but otherwise the Zafira can fit 6 seats up with an unfolded wheelchair in the space for the 7th, it's what I use.
