Ask them if they've heard of the (totally made up name) theory of development and see if they lie.
I love this one - I bet they would lie too.

Why save it only for the IEP meeting, why not use it each time you have to meet with school.
Loved the laughing then asking for the real one. Also loved the 'So I'm hearing ....' finished with what you want to hear, not what they said.
Brilliant

Ha ha
Love Say "listening ears" whenever they're not listening to what you're saying.
I've got ds's IEP review coming up, am soooo tempted to try out the made-up theory of development one...
Justa, thank you for making me smile this morning - especially as that really isn't easy to do at the moment.
I have saved the page as a pdf ready to use some of those - ahem - strategies at the meeting I am currently dreading.
ProcrastinatingPanda - I think that's one of my favourites too - I know our SENCO would try and bluff that she was an expert of that particular theory.

moose - our SENco is honest to a fault and would probably tell me that he'd never heard of it and could I explain it to him
Although, thinking on it, that could work in my advantage too

You got me at the first one. Correct 'with autism' to 'autistic,' then correct 'autistic' to 'with autism.'
And 'listening ears!'
ROFL
. Will deifinitely be keeping all these in mind for my next meeting.
Will also try to learn to spell.....
listening ears.................................HAHAHAHAHAAAAA
Oh that was great! so much I have bookmarked it lol for the down days.
Brilliant!

I am crying with laughter..... And will be thinking of it on Thursday and DS IEP review
At the end, laugh your ass off and then say "Okay you guys, let's do the real one"
I had to read it again LOL and come dressed as William Wallace gave me an hilarious picture!

Wait, hold on..
You get invited to IEP meetings?? I just got 'presented' with it at parent's evening and asked to sign it
I may have to go and see the SENCO, even if it is only to invent some theories and display ditties on the back of my notes

Displaying ditties on the back of notes would work at any meeting.
Can you imagine sitting, po faced, with "the SENco sleeps with sheep" written on the back?
I just need to grow a pair to get the nerve to do at least 1 of these

I've had "cheek" issues all my life. It's dangerous showing me summat like this just before my first annual review (and despite last year the darn statement needs amending already gggrr!)
I'm gonna read it before I go in to take the edge off my nerves.
