I'm sitting on a wall outside a pub. I'm overlooking the Thames. I'm supposed to go in and welcome people, as the class rep for dd (NT) . I'm completely broke, so have had a couple of drinks already (vodka with infused rhubarb and custards homemade christmas pressure).
DH has put an offer in for a house, and upped it without asking me. It's a nice house, in an outstanding school catchment for dd and ds2. The offer he has made is ridiculous, more tan twice the price of the bigger house we left a year ago.
Wtf do I think I am doing?
I grew up in East London.
I've seen a job. I'm qualified for it. It is with our LA and about using data in Education.
I've put lipstick on.
Why do I feel the only true friends are you lot. Most of whom I have never met!?

There are friends and new avenues everywhere.
The job sounds great, go for it.
Oh and get into the bloody pub and smile and relax!!

Cos we are your true friends, you daft bint.
Go inside and make happy small talk with a bunch of pleasant but daft women who, through no fault of their own, live in a middle-class, NT (and probably NCT as well) bubble in which their biggest issue is whether or not it's important to iron the freshly washed PE kit before sending it back to school.
You can have words with hubby about the ridiculous house prices in SW London tomorrow, tbh, whatever it costs, it's probably worth paying to have got away from Herts. But wtf about 'outstanding' and worrying about catchments? Think he's being brainwashed by someone at the office. Finish the school pub thing, then go home and get drunk with dh, then spike his drink and log him on here
Moondog's day will put paid to the 'words on a screen' friends thing...

No idea if the job's a good idea or not... would say you'd be great for them but would they be great for you...

"Wtf do I think I am doing?"
The long and short of it is you are doing what is best for your kids and your family overall. I am not sure who said "whatever it takes" takes on a whole new meaning when you have a child with SN, but it is so true.
You don't need help, you need some stiff drinks and a bloody good night. Enjoy your evening.

Because our life is about having the wind knocked out of you, taking an extra step at the top if the flight of stairs, the rug being given a good hard yank while you weren't looking....but we look like everyone else.
Tell Dh not to do it again.
Go drink with dd's parents and make friends.
I think of you all of my friends too.

Get in there and get a drink down you and go for the job. Glad you have lipstick on!
I know I haven't been here long but already I'm finding a camaraderie which is proving - almost literally - to be a lifesaver.
Enjoy your evening, report back any stupid / irksome / pointless / middleclass comments.

As my friends
I am crap at typing......I want your vodka.
Star, whether you have 100 RL friends or none, we will still be your friends
.
Your DH is trying to provide for his family materially, as you have done practically and intellectually. Ingore it for now.
Stand up, walk in, and remind yourself that you are conquering The System!!

And what dev said, specially the bit about enjoying a good drink and a fun night. Then come back here later and post when you're drunk so we can all laugh at you

Star - you need to remember that your world has been turned upside down in the past year with Tribunals, Asteroid, moving house etc.
Once the pressure is relieved emotions flood in.
I used to sit in my car in Asda's car park and blub my heart out.
Let your DH get on with it - sometimes it's good to take a back seat.

Good luck Star, and have a lovely evening.
And definitely go for the job! My job (public sector, flexible working hours, lovely colleagues) keeps me sane.

Well its 22.55pm and I hope you are pissed and doing the can can on the tables by now and have learnt how to iron creases as sharp as razor blades
Of course we are all your friends you silly moo. That isnt going to change <well I might reconsider if you mention the damned ironing word again shudders>
Job? Go for it. What the hell you can start and you can just as easily finish if it doesnt work out so no big deal. It will get you out of the house and it will make you spend money on costa coffees and cakes in the office lol and maybe a few mates along the way who knows.
As for DH let him get on with it he has obviously got a swiss bank account somewhere
Hope you are having FUN x

Coff - It's nearly 11:30 now - and still no report.
I reckon they've spiked her cocktails and are quizzing her on what it is like to be an NT parent rather than a LL parent (lady that Lattes) or a LP parent (Lady that Pilates)

Where are you? Have you had the conversation about what book level their DC are on yet?
haha! at LL and LP
well still no sign of a slurrrrrry post at 23.53!
Methinks she is having a go at the limbo under the tables flashing her ironed underwear
Hey!
Nice night. Offered someone the use of our washing machine, supported someone who has been told her child is on SEN register. Talked lots about quilting
. Conversations about catchment areas for outstanding school or outstanding school.
Need to feed baby who has been left with Dh with just a timmee toppee cup of expressed milk having never had anything but breast in 5 months.....

That's nice, star. They sound like a nice bunch, not Boden wearing mummies at all. <Say's she in her Boden skirt, but it was in the sale!>

I hope you downed that drink, reapplied the lippy and went back inside to have a great night - you deserve it!
Go for the job, you might love it and make great friends, or it might be just ok but you'll always have us here to moan to about it all
, and you never know until you try.
