chatee are your boots piedros? I've had a no no to piedros as well as splints. Cost based so maybe it's our postcode? If not do you know their brand and will your summer shoes be the same? If they aren't piedros and I could go armed with a brand I may be off to a better start. DD also has adaptions to all shoes and they require frequent repair by the orthotist because of her gait and so their wear. So I sometimes wonder whether two pairs of adapted piedros would be cheaper for the trust than the 3/4/5 pairs of trainers with adaptions and repairs that we go through with each new set of splints. Perhaps I s houdl go with this argument.

Thanks for everyone elses comments the other night it's good to know we're not alone.

very surprised to read you are having trouble getting piedros. Assumed every one got them. I would be tempted to argue with them about it

so do you have afos and piedros to wear at the same time, i mean piedros over the splints? We had piedros for a very short period before if was decided they did not offer enough support and other gait problems arose. But for a while we had each, until dd could tolerate splints for most of the day.

DS has been wearing Piedros, but has now been referred for a splint to wear in the day. Because the splint now provides the support, he will no longer be having Piedros. When he had splints before, we bought high street shoes and orthitics out a raise on them. This time we are being given shoes from a catalogue - but not piedros.
Piedros cost about £60 a pair, I think, and there isn't much pint in them if a splint is worn underneath, afaics.
