Ds keeps having accidents

He is 8 and has CP, he keeps pooing hiself, and I don't know if he is doing it because he can't drag himself away from what he is doing, or if he has no control. He says it was an accident, its happening about once a day and it goes everywhere. I am getting sick of cleaning up poo. it seems to be of the softer kind (sorry TMI) but no watery. I don't get these problems with my 4 year old, and I don't expect it from a 8 year old.

Actually thinking about it, he has never been 100% clean, he is toliet trained, he was late, aged 4. I actually wondered if it could be down to the CP. He pooed himself this morning, he said that he woke up and it was there... Also had another accident this evening, I am always putting him the bath or shower, I make him clean himself, after I have sprayed all the poo off.

do you think it is because he can't controll it. If you think about it most kids have problems with pooh when being toilet trained.

I don't know, he gets very ingrossed in the computer or a book, or the tv. He only poos once a day (sometimes twice, but not that often) and every time he does it in his pants, he gets very upset about, so I think if he was doing it because he couldn't be bothered to go to the toliet, he would have stopped a long time ago, he gets so upset and embarrassed.

the reason I asked is it took me a long time to realise that my dd's problems(she suffers with constipation) were caused by the cp.
I know it is the other way round but with her we put her on the toilet at certain times(have learnt over time when she is likely to go) Although your son sounds more able than that could you not have times when he goes so hopefully it might train his body to wait.
Please do remeber because of the cp it is probally not his fault.
