Hi,
I'm new to mumsnet, and was wondering if there was anyone else out there with a child with SB? My son is 18 months, and was born 7 weeks prem with a myelomeningocele very low down his back (on the sacrum). We catheterise him 2x a day, and he has AFOs, but he still isn't walking yet (although his Physio says there's no reason why he shouldn't - I think he's just very laid back!). I know SB is very few and far between these days, but it would be nice to hear from other mums who are having the same/ similar experiences to us. Thanks

Hi Mum2Seb,
I have a condition called {http://www.asbha.org.au/Occulta.htm\Spina Bifida Occulta}. I have lived with it all my life and although I have the characteristic dimple in my back along with the abnormal hair (I remove it with Immac!) and the strawberry mark, I do not have any problems whatsoever. The only reason I am aware of it, is because I had epidural problems when I had my ds. I am sure someone else will be along shortly to give you their story.
