Iv just booked a weekend away next year for myself and ds, my sis (career women, no children)responese was 'jet set lifestyle!' as i recently took him to EuroDisney i suppose. But that she thinks its all fun and games when we barely leave the house anymore really upset me. I spend every waking minute worrying about my day. Going to bed myself seems like a blessing sometimes.

Oh i can sympathise totally, i get called "life of riley" "you have all the time in the world" "cant be bad aye, at home all day" i would LOVE to be able to have a life away from dd and ds and their conditions but i cant.

I have started answering back now though as i am sick of it i usually say "i,ll swap if you like" that usually shuts them up!!

But you are right its down right annoying when family of all people think things like this

It's horrible when people who are supposed to understand just don't get it.

I bet if you let your sister look after your ds for a few days, she might begin to understand how difficult it is.

Thanks for your replies, jenk1 i have explained my idea of a 'jetsetting' is on the beach without ds! Which is exactly what she can do (didnt say that bit ). It seems as i don't fill her in on all the daily ups and downs she thinks its not too bad. I just cant bring myself to talk about it all the time as its too depressing. Normally i wouldn't get so upset but been a really bad week at school for him and that comment just tipped me over the edge.

What is it with sisters? Mines just the same, always making pointed comments about how it must be nice "not to have to work", "It's alright for some, life of leisure etc". Perhaps she could find me a job that fits in with school hours, lets me have holidays off, oh and isn't in the evening or at night either because that's when dh works.

When she starts going on about how hard she works (vet's receptionist, hardly taxing) I feel like pointing out that maybe that's why she's driving around in a nice freelander and I've got a clapped out hatchback. That's why the only holiday we've had since ds was born was a week in a tent while she goes abroad a couple of times a year. Trouble is, I don't want to get into a row because apart from this one issue we get on fine. Dh now gives me a 'raised eyebrow' look everytime she makes one of her remarks because he knows I am biting my tongue!
