DH and I went to J's first school play that he has been allowed to take part in today
He was never allowed when in mainstream as "he would cause to much disruption for the other children...after all the play is for all the other parents to enjoy not just you Mrs JM"...tosser head from hell

My boy had a solo singing part....he was one of the wise men...he had 5 lines to learn and learnt them well.

I sat with tears streaming down my face as I watched him perform. He was such a little star....the only blip was when he shouted out...."Mums face is raining"

I was amazed watching J interact with the other kids...never before have I seen him looking so happy. He is buddies with a guy who is non verbal(selective mutism) and J sat signing with him....they were giggling and signing chatter together

I turned to look at DH and he sat there with tears in his eyes...our boy is shining and we are both so settled now that we made the right decission by fighting the way we did for his placement at the special school.

I have watched the video three times now and still have that warm fuzzy feeling and I am Oh so very proud of Ds2 and so very thankful to his teachers for unlocking the doors that have held J back for so long.

Ive got a job too....working in the art dept at the school. Officially start after christmas and will be doing 3 afternoon sessionsIve been going in for a few hours each week just helping out and the head asked me if I wanted a job...couldnt resist it...pots of paint, pva glue and kids...its gonna be fun and not at all like work! I'll have em all cardmaking before long

Ahhhh, what a lovely post to read, no wonder you are so proud. Did J learn his signing in his special school?

JM, I'm thrilled for you. Really pleased that it's all turning out well and J is settled and happy. Just think, a year ago... Pat yourself on the back, you've worked hard for this.
