Things are done a little differently here in the UK with regards to disability allowances etc. I thought we did not qualify for a parking permit - given that dd1 can walk - albeit not very far and certainly has no road sense what so ever. I had seen other mums with children with sn who were fine walkers and had been doing so for some time with parking permits ( badges.)
Well after a very scary walk through a car park with dd1 walking and trying to sort out dd2 in the buggy - I bit the bullet and asked my GP about it - well she pulled out a form filled it in and signed it and told me to send it off.
I sent it off last week thinking it would be weeks before we heard anything....
Today went to the mail and woo hoo dd1 has been awarded a red disabled parking badge... so pleased - especially if I can't get a parent and child park at our local shopping centre - I don't have to abandon the trip anymore.
Very excited.
