the 9 months was from start to appeal, but got it all back.I think the first decision still took about 4 months!

I'm almost embarrassed to say this but I sent our claim in on 23 Sept and it was approved 6 days later Blush No idea why they did it so quickly but am VERY grateful, we got middle rate for your 2 year old DD ASD.

Maybe they saw all that I wrote and the extra stuff and figured, i'm not reading all this crap and just stamped it Grin

Just to say we waited about 3 weeks only. Had given them chapter and verse with several extra pages and full details of 6 consultants, so think it was pretty cut and dry. Good luck!

Anna85: I wrote 4 extra pages, typed out for sections 8 and 9 and one other, I cannot remember which one, maybe 14? And I added a 4 page diary of a typical weekend with DD and I included our CAS report. I didn't think it was that bad but I didn't leave an inch of room in any of my answers!

My health visitor (who is fab btw) saw the application a week after I sent it in (the day before I found out I got it!) and she shook her head and said 'I wish you had shown me first, I wouldn't have put so much blah blah blah' and left looking sad that I probably wouldn't get it Wink

I am posting mine tomorrow, so I guess I will find out...... I think how they view the application in terms of are they going to ask for further input from doctors etc. I am nervous because my doctors are a bit rubbish! I bet they take the maximum amount of time to decide though.

I didnt send my form in until the 6 weeks was up so if it takes 12 weeks to assess does that mean I would get 18 weeks backpay if I am granted it??x

I got one of mine in three weeks and the other took about four months, no idea why but both backdated from the date I requested the forms.

ps-both forms sent together in the same envolope.

Report
SparkleRainbow · 09/11/2010 21:44

The policy is that it will be back dated from when you requested the form, irrespective of when they actually make the award. So even if it takes another 12 weeks for them to decide, or longer, you will get all that backpay, well it has to be worth filling in that form!

Like smallmonkfish and Eloise I sent in reams of additional info and answered each question in huge detail and ours took around 10 days.

If you requested the form by telephone there will be two dates on the front of the form, one is the date you requested the form and the other is the date you need to get the form back by to qualify for back dating to the request date. otherwise it will be awarded from the day they receive the completed claim form.

literally a few days.
also, they made an error with the length of the assessment, I wrote and requested that they reconsidered. They rang a couple of days later and agreed that it should be awarded for a year longer (phew!).
This was my second renewal (third time claiming) and thus far, it has been timely each time.
Now the length of time it takes to complete the darn form is a different issue....Angry

Ours took three weeks and like the others I included lots of detail and copies of every report we've received from all the various consultants/therapists. We didn't claim until this sept even though my ds had been receiving treatment since last dec. With no definite diagnosis I didn't think we would be entitle to anything but we got middle rate - so anyway one 'just starting out' make sure to apply early :)

first one took 3 8 weeks second one took 4 weeks and did not send any extra stuff just filled out the form but think we was extremley lucky

First claim took 11 weeks, renewal took 4 weeks. With the renewal, I sent every scrap of evidence/reports that I had -I imagine it made the assessor's heart sink Grin

I sent mine off about 3 weeks ago. I since received a letter saying they have asked DS teacher and also his consultant to send in reports, so will have to wait till they receive those and then decide after thaat - could be a while!
