post 16 education for my asd ds

i'm not sure of the best place to send my ds post 16.he has asd on the higher end of the spectrum.he is at a moderate ld school at present.i dont know if he could cope with mainstream with help as his asd would make it hard for him to understand the lessons and he would be socially lost.there is the option of a special needs place at a college locally with all different forms of sen or a high functioning autism specialist school which would be residential and we would have to fight for funding.

I don't know much about this but I found this site www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/EducationAndTraining/Schools/DG_10039608 quite helpful and constructive - but I imagine the best thing would be someoene with similar experience.

thanks bbbee!you're right but i dont know anyone with same experience which is why i thought i'd try here.at his school,none have same diagnosis at same age.never mind,will try your link.ta!
