DS (8) just diagnosed with dyslexia. He has difficulty reading and writing but we are told has 'very superior' intelligence in just about all other areas. We live abroad so are very lucky to have him in a private school but clueless as to what we should be expecting of the school. We are meeting with EP next week to find out more especially what support she recommends but any suggestions of what I should be pressing for would really help. I'm especially concerned with levels of frustration DS is currently experiencing. He understands so much but feels an idiot (as he constantly tells me - breaks my heart) when he has trouble reading or writing down his amazing ideas. Does anyone have any experience of this and if so what interventions have helped? Thanks.
