Just to give hope to anyone out there who is fighting for a Statement Of Educational Needs. We applied for a statement for our son 3 years ago as he was dx as having severe learning difficulties associated with Autism and Global Development Delay, and the LEA refused to assess his needs. We applied again in Dec 2005 following his firm diagnosis, and this time the LEA agreed to assess but then refused to Statement him. We lodged the appeal with Sendist and were told that the appeal would be held in tribuneral in Oct 2006.BUT THE LEA HAVE BACKED DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a letter on friday saying that they have decided to reverse their decision and issue a statement.
Thanks to IPSEA and all of you lovely mums who supported me to keep pushing for it, we have finally got there.{smile]

Congratulations ME, I remember reading about your ds, he really deserved one and a lot sooner. Your LEA behaved terribly.

I hope you are pleased with the statement and that you ds does well in Juniors.

thanks maddiemostmerry.
Yes it has been a long hard slog, but hopefully it will all be worth the heartache. We have to wait now to see what support they are including in the proposed statement, which I assume we will be receiving shortly.
