Im after some advice please. My dd2 has a statement of SEN for speech and language and whilst she has come in in leaps and bounds with the social and speech side of things, we are finding that she is falling further and further behind academically.

She has 1 to 1, which has been a great help but still not enough to catch up. She is in yr 2 and after speaking with the SENCO, head teacher and class teacher I am looking at specialist language schools in the area, which unfortunately there aren't many.

I will be ringing around tomorrow to try and make appointments to look at the schools, but here is where I need help. What sort of questions should I be asking? What do I need to look for and what are the warning signs?

Sorry, I can't help you, but you may get more replies posting this on the 'special needs children' topic.

Thank you have just done that.

Hi, hoping to place our son in a "specialist" school, but I am told that it is likely to go to tribunal because it's independant and it isn't a maintained school. My son has severe (Grade F) dyslexia and S&L problems. Assessment stage for statement now. Feel sick with stress over the whole thing x
